Cameron Myers claimed Commonwealth Games mile silver at Glasgow 2026.

Cameron Myers rose to one of the biggest challenges of his young career at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning silver in a thrilling men’s mile final behind Scottish world record holder Josh Kerr.
The 20-year-old Australian stopped the clock at 3:55.26, with Kerr taking gold in 3:54.12. Myers led at the bell and refused to be intimidated by the occasion or the celebrated home favourite, showing bold racing instincts on the Commonwealth stage.
His silver medal was a brilliant result and another sign that Australian men’s middle-distance running has an exceptional future. Myers competed to win, positioned himself aggressively and kept fighting after the race tightened over the final 200 metres. That ambition deserves enormous praise.
Fellow Australians Oliver Hoare and Adam Spencer also represented the country proudly. Hoare finished fifth in 3:56.28, while Spencer placed eighth in 3:56.62. In a race decided by fine margins, both showed the strength and depth of Australia’s mile squad and contributed to a memorable final.
Myers left Glasgow with far more than a medal. He demonstrated that he belongs in championship showdowns with the very best, while Hoare and Spencer again displayed the courage required at this level. All three Australians attacked the event with distinction and gave green-and-gold supporters plenty to celebrate.
